Exquisite Binary - Written spring 2007 for an assignment in ENG 525 (Cybernetic Fiction). Topic of assignment was Pynchon's novel Gravity's Rainbow. We were to choose from a list of possible options, and one was "writing style influence." This was the result. Don't feel bad if you don't understand it - as of right now, there are only two people aside from myself who are likely to.
Midnight - Written in response to the Week #19 challenge/prompt on Resinality. Prompt was "smells/tastes/sounds like midnight." The connection this time is more explicit than last week's, no? Also, much shorter than my usual. A mere snippet of a scene, with bare hints of what's going on.
Tetsubin - Written in response to the Week #18 challenge/prompt on Resinality. Prompt was "the evil inside." This is my perhaps non-standard response. Can you see the connection?
Compact Scars - Written in response to one of the ABJD Writing Usergroup THEMES challenges (#17) on Resinality. The prompt was the phrase "Tell me a secret." There are some rough patches in this, but overall I liked the result, especially for a fast-write (which is how I generally approach these challenges).
Ode to Sexy - This piece was started while sitting bored in English class and finished on the bus. It started as a single line, and took off from there. The presentation is similar to that of slam or spoken word poetry, with accents and emphasis in strange places - some day I may even record it myself and post the file of it actually being read as it was meant to be. It's also notable as one of the only two pieces of poetry I've ever written outside of a class assignment, and one of the three pieces of poetry I've ever written and liked.
Plastic Words - Written in response to one of the ABJD Writing Usergroup THEMES challenges (#3) on Resinality. The prompt was the song Broken Bones by Aqualung. I'd tell you what's going on...but if you know that before reading it, it would ruin the impact of the piece, I think.
Blue Suit - Written in response to a prompt from GreenJudy. The prompt was simple: FFVII Rude, Wall Market, and a Blue Suit. This was the result.
Just One Dance? - Written in response to a prompt from Annie-chan. The prompt: Darryl, Annie-chan's character Kuja, and an A-list ball. The result? Darryl's probably going to be getting a white suit in the near future. Just because.
Noxiously Sappy - Written in response to a prompt by Auntie K/Saint Savin, who asked for a Gundam Wing 2x4 (that's Duo and Quatre as more-than-just-friends, for anyone not familiar) that wasn't noxiously sappy. I suppose there was some sap in the result...if you tilt your head, close one eye, and tap your nose with your middle finger. But really...considering the things that are implied about Quatre, I'd have to say it's nearly sapless.
Of Red Rabbits and Airports - Written in response to a prompt by Berubius/itherabbit, who wanted to see Darryl and Talon doing something with a red Volkswagen Rabbit, near an airport.
